Monday Motivational for September 18, 2017

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It can not be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

In a persons lifetime, the hardest battle is with the self. We fight with beliefs about our selves. We struggle with ideas of who we are or should be. We look outside our selves to find things to make us happy sometimes and in a time of instant gratification, that doesn’t get here fast enough for some.

I have a friend who has always been critical of herself. She’s beautiful, really beautiful. Great figure, smart, funny, personable, helpful, kind, thoughtful, and so much more. It wasn’t until she had seen pictures of herself from 20 years ago that she realized that the level of criticism she had, and the incredibly high standard she set was exaggerated and pretty much wrong. Over 20 years she carried these false beliefs about herself.

I think everyone struggles with this in some way or another. Letting go of false beliefs can be the liberation you need to move forward with a goal you have. Are you too “something” to take that trip? Are you incapable of “doing that thing” that you can’t apply for that job you want? Are you really too “whatever” to attract that person into your life you want?

Identify that belief. Ask it if it’s really true. If you think it is, think of a 10 year old child. Maybe a 10 year old you and say that to the child’s face. If you think that may be cruel, then realize, this is what you play over and over in your head each day keeping you from your dreams.

It’s time, my friends, to put aside those thoughts and false beliefs. Start kicking ass with your brain and shut those negative and false words into your thoughts, words or actions.

You’re so much better than that voice!
